About Sarah Galla
Sarah Galla is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Journalism with a specialization in Sports Media at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She is passionate about sports storytelling and aspires to build a career as an on-air broadcaster covering the teams, athletes, and moments that bring fans together.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa in May 2025, where she covered Hawkeye athletics for The Daily Iowan. In that role, she interviewed athletes and coaches while reporting from major events, including the Men’s Big Ten Basketball Tournament in both Indianapolis and Chicago. Her work allowed her to develop a strong foundation in live reporting, storytelling, and athlete-focused coverage.
Sarah has gained hands-on experience with leading sports networks, including FOX Sports and NBC Sports. She supported digital streaming operations for NBC’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics and contributed to FOX Sports’ coverage of the Concacaf Gold Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup, assisting with broadcast preparation and production. These opportunities gave her valuable insight into the fast-paced environment of national sports coverage.
Her experience also includes working with Big Ten Student-U, where she operated broadcast cameras, integrated graphics, and served as a sideline reporter — conducting live interviews and delivering pregame analysis. Through these roles, Sarah has developed a versatile skill set both in front of and behind the camera as she continues working toward her goal of becoming a sports broadcaster.
